The "A" Factor

  • Mood: Reflective
  • Music: By the rivers of Babylon

I have gained a lot from reading and from my interaction with bright young people who have achieved great success in life.My fascination for these success ridden people has revolved around how they have achieved it .You see I was in search of a formula for success and my interaction with these top knotch doctors revealed but one thing - Attitude.Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, its 'A' for Attitude and not 'A' for Apple that led them to success.

Arindam Chaudhuri, the founder of Planman Consulting and the author of the international bestseller "Count Your Chickens Before They Hatch" says that there are three dimensions to success, referred to as the "Ask Principle" for success - Attitude, Skill and  Knowledge, in that order of importance. You might have all the knowledge in the world and you might have great skills but altitudes will elude you due to your lack of Attitude.I have seen plenty of Success stories where people with high degrees of knowledge or skills have not been able to achieve their true potential due to their attitude  - or rather -  the lack of it.So attitude is the most imposrtant dimension for success.

The World around us is replete with examples of people who have made it big in life due to their attitude. They always had the skills and the knowledge but it was their attitude that proved to be the knockout punch.

  • Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States of America. His meteoric rise to the post of the President is a part of the legendary success stories of the 21st century world.Inspite of a poor background with several adversities he rose like an eagle on wings, because his attitude was always right, rich and genuine. He did the unthinkable by abolishing slavery something ,15  Presidents before him couldn't think of.
  • Henry Ford, the founder of the Ford Motor Company that till today rolls out beautiful cars like the Ford Ikon, had loads of attitude to take him to the top of the automoblie industry.Ford's first automobile company went bankrupt; two years later his second company failed too - but he didn't give up.Its the right attitude that helped him achieve global success with his third Automobile company.
  • What Sabeer Bhatia , the founder of Hotmail .com ,achieved is what every IT professional in India dreams of everyday. His friends say that when he had nothing to do they used to be amazed by his ability to think big.No doubt ,he made it big by his attitude than anything else.
  • Sachin Tendulkar is the biggest and most relevent example of attitudeladen success. While  every cricketer dreams of being the best in his time ,this boy dreamt a little more - of being the best there ever was, even as a little boy ,playing in the park.He was introspective , quite critical of every shot he played and every century he scored. At 16 he debuted for Indiaand is today the only batsman ever to be compared with the graet Sir Donald Bradman universally including Bradman himself.

Looking at these examples closely you will come to realisethat each of them had an attitude laden with - positive thinking , learning from mistakes, persistance in the face of adversity and the ability to keep revising and  refreshing theit goals.

In today's World ,attitdueless personality is galore.Even me and you go through such phases inour lives. As a doctor ,I have gone through phases where I have lacked the attitude punch and beieve me these phases have been quite nightmarish  because though I've had the skills and the knowledge, without attitude somehow the success urge hasn't been enough.A subtle resignation to the status-quo I'm in crept in slowly and forced me to be satisfied with the current level of achievement. Its likewise on the sprituality front too.You suddenly lose the power to grow spirituallyand reach the next higher level, resigning yourself to depression and sin and an absolute feeing of contentment to stay at that level.

The good news is that all is not lost.Attitude can be regained back. You just have to log in to the website called God ,sign in as a member if you havn't yet and then download it for free,so that whenever in future to go out into the big bad world ,the attitude factor stays with you like an Antivrus..What .......did I hear you say impossible?.....Nah!! my friend .......if it was possible for me its possible for you too.........don't let the impossible factor cloud your thinking......because as they say " Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in this World they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it.Impossible is not a fact. Its an opinion.Impossible is not a declaration. Its a dare. Impossible is potential.Impossible is temporary.Impossible is nothing"
